Architecture of Memories

Architecture of Memories

bronze, 101 x 29 x 23 cm

The human figure is abstracted into an architectural form. Features and bodily details are barely discernible, allowing the viewer to focus on the form and texture. The verticality and rectangular forms evoke the sense of an architectural edifice.

The sculpture conveys the idea of memory as a complex, multi-layered structure. Individual blocks are like memories that connect, layer upon layer, and shape our identity. The fragmentation of the sculpture also reflects the passage of time (memories can disintegrate, fade, or transform over time). Each block of the sculpture is a unique element that forms the whole. It also encompasses an aspect of traumatic memories.
