Exhibition devoted to Independence Day of Ukraine

Verhovna Rada (Parliament of Ukraine) – August-September, 2024

Kyiv, Ukraine

The exhibition’s overall atmosphere and interiors vividly reflected the realities of martial law, with elements like sandbagged windows underscoring the ongoing war’s direct impact. The most symbolic, albeit harrowing, incident was the fall of a fragment from a downed drone near the sculpture “Ineffable Fragility of Life”– an event that felt like a diabolical performance. Even the return of the sculptures from the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) to the gallery after the exhibition took place during lulls between air raid alerts.

In this context, I perceive the artist’s mission as using his works to reveal the pivotal points, key figures, and spiritual qualities upon which our history and culture are built; to showcase our present reality and our resilience in the face of challenges through artistic imagery; and to convey the profound existential meaning of Ukraine’s very existence.

My sincere thanks go to everyone who supported the exhibition. We stand united, and that is crucial!
